Welcome to my virtual pet blog!

The primary focus on this blog is Digimon, but I will occasionally post about other virtual pets as well such as Tamagotchi, Gigapets, and others, as well as virtual pet adjacent things like the pedometer pets, or LCD games. I do not cover analog artificial pets like Furby or Tekno Puppy.

If it’s not Digimon, it will be tagged with #not digimon, but if it’s not even a virtual pet, such as the Chao from Sonic, I will tag it as #not V-pets. I will also tag any personal talk about Digimon video games as #digimon vidya, but I won’t be tagging digimon video game reblogs, just my personal text posts.

This blog also covers related media, such as anime, manga, games, and general art and fan art. I try not to spotlight the anime too much as I feel like the Digimon anime overshadows the virtual pets, but this blog would move too slowly if I completely avoided it. I will tag all anime posts with #digiani and I will tag anything from a currently running anime as #spoilers. I can’t be bothered to tag much else so follow at your own risk.

I occasionally draw, so that will be tagged with #my art, and if you enjoy my art, consider donating a small tip to my Ko-Fi account. I could really use it. I’ll also be posting my v-pet art to Instagram.

I just learned there’s gonna be new shell colors for the DMC 1 and 2.

This would be cool…. if they weren’t SIXTY FUCKING DOLLARS and Premium Bandai exclusive.

Like I bought a bunch of DM20s to swap the shells and the buttons around to make my ideal color combos, but DM20s are cheap….

I cannot justify buying multiples of any version of the DMC. I can barely justify buying a V1 and V2 color. Arguably I can’t justify it but I want all the digimon and will misbehave a bit to get them.

They really should have launched with all these shell options. I think the colors I have for my DMC V1 are kind of ugly tbh but i’m stuck with it unless I wanna buy another DM20 to mutilate for the cage and buttons. And even then, I’m still stuck with a brown shell.

So about the “secret transformation” of Floppy Frog…

Spoiler alert, but mine turns into a Princess, and some people say theirs turn into a Prince. So it seems these pets have random genders? It will transform back into a frog if you try to do any of the interactions. All it really changes is that you do a new minigame.

One thing I notice is that this only ever happens once you raise it’s stats up close to 100, and it only happens before noon.

Minor correction. It’s a thing that happens once a day. The first tiem you get your frog’s stats back above 90, a crown spawns in front of you, and pressing a button will make the frog pick it up and transform, but if you ignore it, it will spawn again later that day. I ignored the crown this morning before work and once I raised my frog’s stats back up after work, the crown appeared in front of my frog again and became a princess.

44 days with Giga Pets Floppy Frog and he’s still kicking AND the battery that came in the box is still good. It’s not like I can pause him so this may be the longest i’ve ever raised a virtual pet without exploiting a pause feature or some kind of trick that essentially pauses my virtual pet.

This kind of makes me want to start keeping records now. I may just do away with my “swap v-pets at the 1st of the month” rule, or at least bend that rule, I already ignored it this month, the only thing that keeps me from having a “swap v-pets every time a v-pet dies” rule is that some V-pets would probably never get swapped out that way and then others would probably get swapped out before a week even ends.
